Simon, Christian
Christian Simon began his career in 1974 as a presenter on Radio Luxembourg. His training with Frank Elstner was the starting point! This was followed by TV programmes such as ‘Rockpop’ on ZDF, ‘Christians Wanderbrettl’ on ARD, participation in ‘Verstehen Sie Spaß?’ and countless radio programmes for WDR, SWR, Radio Bremen, Deutschlandfunk and private broadcasters.
The many contacts he made over four decades became the basis for his current work. Christian Simon founded a media agency and organised concert tours and open-air events. Today, he works as a media journalist and author. He writes columns and stories for music and current affairs magazines as well as newspapers.
In 2016, his first book was published by LangenMüller: ‘Ich Udo – Gespräche mit Christian Simon’ (I, Udo – Conversations with Christian Simon), based on his more than 40-year friendship with Udo Jürgens.
His second book was published in March 2020: ‘Paul McCartney Hautnah – Meine Jahre mit der Legende’ (Paul McCartney Up Close – My Years with the Legend). Christian Simon worked closely with Paul and Linda McCartney for 15 years. He also worked with Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. This period is brought to life in the book, which has also been released as an audiobook, through interviews and stories, documented with many snapshots taken by Simon's wife Monica with her camera.
